Faux Christmas tree, faux Christmas tree!

MerryMerryJoyJoyMerryMerryJoyJoyMerry

It's that busy time of year. Again. And if you're like us, a full-on Christmas tree just isn't going to happen. Whether you're traveling for the Yuletide season or you don't have the space or you simply don't want to deal, Bachelor Pad Project has your back! Although there is no substitute for the real thing (Thymes Frasier Fir candle will help), we found some very creative versions of the not-so-trimmed Tannenbaum. Now there's room for more mistletoe!

Re:novations & Re:dos: DIY Fall Firepit

The nights are beginning to cool so it's the perfect time for a firepit (it's easier than you think).

Supplies:
Approx. 6 medium sized rocks
1 bag of quartz rock
Shovel
Firewood!

Dig a hole about 36" diam. x 18" deep (slightly slanted). Line the hole with the rock pieces.

Fill in the spaces with the quartz rock.

Get fired up!

Monday Mimicry

Can these stunning bookends inspire an entire room? You bet your agate.
via
As richly layered as a world traveler's home, this living room evokes a sense of mystery and adventure while maintaining a look of modern masculinity. Deep, dark colors anchor the organic layout of the room while the reflective surfaces (antiqued mirrored frames, gilded lamp bases, glass coffee table) keep the room light and not too serious. A velvet sofa and a cowhide rug give the room visual as well as tactile texture, and natural elements, such as botanicals and the mid-century curved wooden chair, remind us there's an entire planet out there to explore. Get to it!

Drink of the Week(end)

Cheers to the grand re-opening of Trader Vic's in Portland! From 1959 to 1996 Trader Vic's provided Polynesian delights galore. Owner, Victor Bergeron, claims to be the inventor of the Mai Tai so it is in his honor I bring to you his famous recipe. Manuia!

Trader Vic's Mai Tai

1 1/2 ounces aged Jamaican rum
1/2 ounce orange curaƧao
1 ounce fresh lime juice
1/2 ounce almond syrup
1/4 ounce simple syrup
Shake and strain over crushed ice into an old-fashioned glass. Garnish with a mint sprig and cherry.

Drink of the Week(end)

On the off chance you actually needed a reason to play croquet.
Whiskey Peach Smash
  • 5 mint leaves & 1 mint sprig
  • 3 peach slices
  • 1/2 lemon, quartered
  • 1 ounce orange curacao
  • 2 ounces bonded bourbon whiskey
Muddle the mint leaves, 2 peach slices, lemon pieces and the orange curacao together in cocktail shaker. Add the bourbon and ice and shake well. Strain into an iced rocks glass. Garnish with mint sprig and remaining peach slice.

The real ones are hard to find and even harder on the wallet. Thanks to west elm for making it super easy to be a bad ass.
